Fishing on the Ancholme

Think angling heaven, think River Ancholme – a haven for some of the best coarse fishing in the country.

The Ancholme Valley has a mainly rural character; the river flows north between the higher ground of the Lincolnshire edge in the west and the Lincolnshire Wolds in the east.

The river offers excellent sport for roach around Brigg. Anglers can target large shoals of bream, often present in turbid water. Sizeable pike, to around 25lbs, can be found around the Scabcroft area.

Scunthorpe & District Angling Club have the fishing rights on the River Ancholme. Tickets can be bought on the bank from the baliffs.
