Camping at Brandy Wharf
Janet tells us about her family camping and cycling holiday to Brandy Wharf Leisure Park.
When did you go on your trip?
We went on our camping expedition during the summer school holidays.
What did you do on your trip to the river?
We were really spoilt for choice of things to do. Before going on the camping trip we had thought we'd be spending loads of time in the car to get to places but it was the complete opposite. The leisure park had loads of things on offer which managed to keep us all entertained throughout out stay.
As we have a bike rack on the car we took our own bikes but the campsite did have bikes that we could have used. We had a fantastic time cycling in the Ancholme area. We even took a picnic ready for when we needed a rest from the saddle.
The boys really wanted to have a go at canoeing so we hired some canoes from the site. We had to provide all our own safety gear but they had a wail of a time on the water.
We also popped into Gem's café from time to time to grab a quick snack when we didn't fancy cooking for ourselves.
Was everything how you expected it to be?
We didn't have the heat wave that was promised but we did get everything we expected at the campsite.
We had all the facilities we needed and we were even allowed a camp fire. We have been talking about getting a caravan and if we head down this route then we'll be heading back to visit the Ancholme area.
