Registering your boat

You need to register your boat with the Environment Agency if you want to take your boat on the River Ancholme.

The Environment Agency is the navigation authority for several rivers within the Anglian Region. All craft used on the River Ancholme must be registered and licensed with the Environment Agency and/or British Waterways.

The Environment Agency offer a range of annual and visitor licences of different durations. The Ancholme itself also has a special reduced tariff if you wish to purchase a license for just this river. If applicable, your craft may also need to be certified through the  Boat Safety Certificate Scheme.

If you are a member of the British Canoe Union, you may find that your membership provides you with automatic registration on the navigation.

For more information about registration on the River Ancholme visit the Environment Agency's website. You can get advice and copies of the application forms by calling the Environment Agency's craft registration department on 08780 506 506 or by downloading them.

If you are planning on visiting another waterway other than the River Ancholme you'll need to talk to the relevant navigation authority about their registration requirements. For more information, visit the Association of Inland Navigation Authorities website.
